Corn / Pellet Fireplaces
Stay warm, save money, and help the environment by heating with wood pellets or shelled corn. These renewable fuels are CO2 neutral and do not contribute to global warming. Compared to oil, propane, and natural gas, which take millions of years to form, wood for pellets can be produced in a few decades, and corn can be harvested in a few months.
Many homes can be heated with 3-4 tons of these fuels per season. Heat with corn for $300 - $400 a season, or with wood pellets for $600 - $800.
Bio-mass stoves aren’t for everyone. Like woodstoves, they require loading, tending, ash removal and vent maintenance. Unlike woodstoves, they may only require tending once a day.
MacDowell’s has sold and serviced corn / pellet stoves since 1989, and has in stock all required vent pipe and hearth accessories. We offer licensed and insured installation and service for the products we sell.
